Overview

Uganda is the leading birding destination in Africa, this exclusive 10 Days Birding safari has been designed for those who love Birding in the wild as well as primate trekking and wildlife encounters on game safaris with in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The trip starts with a visit to Uganda’s wildlife Education centre a conservation area for learning with a number of wildlife species to see then after have a trip to Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria a home to many orphaned chimpanzees which are protected and conserved on the Island.

Thereafter visitors will be transferred to Mabira forest for birding in Uganda’s biggest tropical rain forest and after transferred to Semuliki National Park for a birding safari and an encounter with some mammals in the park. This trip will highlight a life changing experience of Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will have a game viewing experience as well as a Launch cruise on kazinga Channel where you will have an encounter with a number of water birds as well as mammals and reptiles that flock the water body.

The trip will end with adays relaxation on Lake Bunyonyi and a birding experience in the afternoon on the lake and later the following day transferred back to Kampala for departure to your next destination.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be received by your tour Guide/Driver who will transfer you to your hotel for relaxation. Dinner and overnight at 2friends Hotel Entebbe
Day 2: Transfer to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)

In the morning after breakfast, your guide will brief you about the whole trip and later transfer you to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) for behind-the-scenes experience. After UWEC you will be transferred to Ngamba Island on a boat cruise to have an experience with the chimpanzees at the island.

On your way you will meet a number of water birds on Lake Victoria. After the Ngamba experience you’ll be transferred back to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight at 2Friends hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Mabira Forest for birding

After an early breakfast you’ll be transferred to Mabira Forest for birding. The Forest has a number of birds with over 300 recorded bird species and other primates as they interact with the forest in the canopy. Mabira Forest natural reserve covers an area of 306 sq km. Have lunch and head out in the forest for birding.

Day 4: Transfer to Semuliki National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and get back in the forest for an early birding experience for two hours, return to the lodge and get ready to embark on the journey to the western part of the country to Semuliki national Park.

Day 5: Birding the whole day in Semuliki and Afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After your early morning breakfast set out for birding the whole day in Semuliki to look for endemic birds and other bird species. Semuliki Forest represents the only example of the Congo-Basin vegetation in Uganda.

A number of Guinea -Congo biome species reach their eastern limits here, which is one of the richest for forest birds in the country. Over 131 of the 144 Guinea- Congo Forest Biome species, and 39 others that are only known from Semuliki National Park. You can as well have a tour of the hot springs in Semuliki as well as a boat cruise.

In the afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat cruise.

Set out very early in the morning to the savanna plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park for game viewing. You will encounter some bird species during your game drives searching for lions, antelopes, elephants, leopards among others in the kasenyi plains. After you’ll have lunch and head out to the Mweya peninsular for a launch cruise Kazinga channel in search for the aquatic animal species like crocodiles, hippopotamus, elephants eating out and swimming on the banks and birding. The cruise will take 3 hours.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast you’ll be transferred to Bwindi impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park for the famous Tree climbing lions with a game drive in Ishasha. Have a lunch stop in Kanungu on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 8: Community tour around the Bwindi community
Early in the morning you’ll be transferred to the Park headquarters for a briefing where you’ll be assigned Rangers and porters to help you hike in the forest for a great Gorilla trekking experience. After Gorilla trekking, you’ll head back to the lodge for lunch and after have a guided community tour around the Bwindi community Dinner and overnight at Bakiga Lodge
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast you’ll be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale for adays rest. This happens to be the second deepest Lake in Africa and a great place for birders while enjoying the beautiful lake views. Check in the hotel and have lunch and after you’ll have a sunset canoe trip on the lake as you explore the islands which has over 29 islands

Dinner and overnight at Birdnest resort

Day 10: Transfer to Kampala.

Have a relaxed morning with Breakfast and after you’ll be transferred to kampala or Entebbe airport according to your travel plans and engagements here in Kampala with a lunch stop at Igongo cultural center.
